Explore the Fortress Klis and get the taste of traditional life in Dalmatia
Before we let you in on some Dalmatian gastro secrets let us take you to Klis Fortress. This medieval wonder is located near the city of Split and has been guarding the frontier for more than two thousand years. The view from it is breathtaking and the fortress itself is a must see.
Three defensive walls, the Governor´s Residence, the Church of St. Vid (a mosque during the Ottoman era), bastions, turrets, the museum collection of medieval weapons and an Uskok fighter’s performance (fencing, archery, javelin throwing) will entertain and educate you.
After Klis, we will visit the ethno village ‘Stella Croatica’ – a family owned company specialized in manufacturing high-quality gastronomic souvenirs and delicacies. During our tour of the ethno village, you will get the chance to learn about Dalmatian cultural heritage by observing the everyday life of a typical Dalmatian family.
You will learn how to start a fire and how to prepare one of the most famous dishes in the area – SOPARNIK. The whole experience will be even more enjoyable after you try the kneaded bread, delicious trout and the whole variety of fresh vegetables while sipping local brandy or wine and chilling in an authentic ambiance.
