The Ultimate Route For Yacht Charter In The US Virgin Islands

The Virgin Islands of the United States is a group of Caribbean islands and an organized territory of the United States. The islands are geographically part of the Virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leewards Islands of the Lesser Antilles to the east of Purto Rico and west of the British Virgin Islands.

The U.S. Virgin Islands consists of the main islands of Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas, and many other surrounding minor islands. The capital is Charlotte Amalie on the island of St. Thomas.

USVI are known for their white sand beaches, including Magens Bay and Trunk Bay, and deepwater harbors along the Anegada Passage. Like most Caribbean islands, are volcanic in origin and hilly.

St.-Thomas

Day 1 – St. Thomas

The island has a number of natural bays and harbors including Magens Bay, Great Bay, Jersey Bay, Long Bay, Fortuna Bay, and Hendrik Bay. Your cruise can start either at Red Hook or at Yacht Haven Grande Marina in Charlotte Amalie depending on where your crewed charter yacht is anchored or docked. On the island is plenty of duty-free shopping and world-class dining.

There is also a world-renowned 18-hole championship golf course. If you’re more interested in culture and history then don’t miss seeing the second-oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere.

Whistling-Cay

Day 2 – Whistling Cay

Whistling Cay is located in US Virgin Islands National Park. Cay is covered with trees and high cliffs in the north, where it reaches a 40 meters elevation. Cay is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling.

A guided snorkel tour is available for learning more about the coral reef ecosystem and fish/coral identification. If you are not interested in snorkeling feel free to kayak along the cliffs.

Waterlemon-Cay

Day 3 – Waterlemon Cay

Number one spot for snorkeling on St. John Island, lying in the Leinster Bay. Small cay surrounded by a fringing reef that boasts a wide variety of reef fishes and coral. With its clear water providing excellent visibility for exploring sea life, including turtles, rays, conches, and small sharks. You can easily visit the beach as part of a crewed yacht charter vacation.

Onshore you will spot four large sets of Danish-era plantation ruins. Impressive, rambling set of plantation ruins just behind the beach, you will see a stone, coral rubble, and plaster.

St.-Croix

Day 4 – St. Croix

The largest of the islands in the territory. The island is famous for its beaches, forests, and luxury resorts. Also a great destination for divers for exploring reefs and wrecks. Island has town main towns, Frederiksted, on the west coast, and Christiansted on the north coast. 

Discover Salt River Bay National Historic Park which is a protected ecological preserve, and one of two bioluminescent bays on St. Croix. Recommended staying at the island more than one day, regarding the distance from St. Thomas around 68 kilometers.

Magens-Bay

Day 5 – Magens Bay

Features a well-protected white sand beach stretching for nearly three-quarters of a mile. Surrounded by a six-acre arboretum consisting of large trees from four tropical continents, fice acres of coconut groves, and fifteen acres of mangroves. Bay has a sandy bottom, perfect for snorkeling and spotting turtles and fishes.

Day 6 – Great St. James

Located off the east end of St. Thomas. The cove on the west side of Great St. James, Christmas Cove, is a popular snorkeling and mooring spot for yachts.

Charlotte Amalie

Day 7 – Charlotte Amalie

Located on the island of St. Thomas, is the capital and the largest city of the US Virgin Islands. The city is known for its Danish colonial architecture, building structure, and long history of pirates. Blackbeard’s Castle is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Another tourist attraction is Fort Christian, the oldest standing structure in the Virgin Islands Archipelago.

Day 8 – St. Thomas

A modern paradise filled with colonial jewels. For the last day, you can visit Coral World Ocean Park that is a favourite place among visitors and residents.  It is a marine park located next to Coki Beach on the East End of St. Thomas.
