Have you ever wondered how much it costs to charter a yacht? What is included in the charter price? What kind of yachts can you get for different price ranges?

In this blog post, we are going to explain everything you need to know about yacht charter prices, and why is a charter better than renting a yacht on your own. Since we have been in the yachting business for over 19 years, we have gained a lot of experience to guide you from point zero to the best vacation ever.

Superyacht Freedom in Croatia

The most unique vessels in Croatia - DS Yachts

Compared to other yachts in the world, DS Yachts are truly unique. They can accommodate up to 36 guests and their several decks offer plenty of space for everybody. More decks, mean more space for luxury amenities, such as a gym, a sauna, a kids' playroom, a media room, a jacuzzi, a pool, and of course, plenty of water toys. The best part is the charter price. Anywhere in the Mediterranean or in the world, you would pay at least 3 times more for a yacht charter with such amenities, and with less capacity.

Most charter yachts for up to € 50,000 per week can accommodate up to 10 passengers in up to 5 cabins. The length of yachts ranges from 20 meters to 39 meters and there are up to 6 crew members. They will take care of you and all your needs from the beginning until the end of your cruising adventure.

Not all yachts in this category have a jacuzzi or many amenities, so in this case, it is always good to confirm if this is important to you. Definitely, you will still receive exclusive service, eat delicious meals, and get the luxury level, as all the modern yachts promise this. If you are vacationing with a smaller number of friends or family, this is the perfect option for you to taste leisure and visit many places in a short time.

Yacht charter from 50000 - 100000 per week

A higher price means more luxury, amenities, and comfort. The yacht’s length in this category starts at 30 meters and up. They can accommodate groups of 12 friends or family members in 6 beautiful en suite cabins.

The number of crew members increases, as more demands are required. A jacuzzi is a must, as well as a tender boat, several water toys, and exercise equipment for the ones who want to stay active and fit. The dining experience becomes more fascinating since there is more variety of food and more exclusive cuisine. Many of them have separate entertaining and relaxation areas, gyms, a swimming platform, a beach bar, and a BBQ.

All the areas are carefully planned, providing privacy and opportunity for socialization. The cabins and the indoor and outdoor areas are much more spacious and comfortable.

Yacht charter for more than 100000 per week

Yacht charter for more than € 100,000 per week

In this yacht charter price category, it is not important just where you cruise but also how you cruise. Onboard any of those yachts, you will experience luxury at the highest level.

The size of the yacht

The size of the yacht for more than € 100,000 per week starts at 30 meters and up. They can accommodate up to 12 guests, and there are usually 2 crew members per passenger, plus the captain. Onboard these yachts, even the most demanding clients are satisfied. This category also fits yachts for larger groups that can accommodate more than 12 guests, with the same luxury amenities as the yachts for smaller groups.

The cabins are called suites

The cabins are called suites and each of them has an ensuite bathroom. There is also a master and VIP suite as well. Most of them feature a gym, a jacuzzi, a steam room, a massage room, a theater, and other luxury amenities.

Since the guests' preferences vary, we listen to each one of them to ensure a tailor-made and unforgettable experience.

Learn everything about the price breakdown and what is included in the yacht charter price

Before we start explaining the price breakdown, it is important to know how yachts differ from each other:

Sailing yachts

Sailing yachts

Sailing yachts combine modern lines with classy high-end luxury interiors. It is not just the type of yacht that guarantees luxury and comfort, it’s everything behind it. It is the service, the crew, the amenities, and the destinations. The combination of all this will ensure you have the ultimate yachting vacation.

The length of sailing yachts

The length of sailing yachts ranges from 30 m to 50 m or more. They feature high-tech equipment and a comfortable luxurious interior design. They can accommodate up to 12 guests and an average of 8 crew members takes care of each passenger’s comfort. The chef onboard is ready to satisfy the guest's tastes always taking into consideration their dietary preferences.

On sailing yachts

On sailing yachts, you can expect everything; from the jacuzzi, pool, spa, beauty salon, and steam room to the dance floor, indoor and outdoor bars, and of course, a theater. There are also plenty of water toys to keep the guests entertained. Snorkeling, scuba diving, kiteboarding, paddleboard, kayaking, and sea bobs are just some activities that most sailing yachts offer.

Gulets

Gulets

Gulet is a traditional Turkish wooden-type vessel. The average length of a gluet is 20 m to 30m, features 4 to 8 en suite cabins, and it can accommodate up to 16 guests.

Even though the gulet has sails, for cruising it uses mainly the engine. They are like motor sailer yachts with a highly professional crew including a chef, waitresses, hostesses, engineers, deckhands…

Because they have fewer cabins they can accommodate fewer guests. A higher number of crew members means that all the guests are tended to on a higher level.

The more luxurious gulets have a jacuzzi as well and a bigger variety of amenities. From jet skis, waterskis, a paddleboard, kayaks, canoes, Ringo rides, and much more.

The size the not the only factor that determents the price of a yacht charter

The size is not the only factor that determents the price of a yacht charter

The length of the yacht is not an ultimate price indicator. Yachts can range from 15 m to 100 m and the price does not increase with the length of the yacht.

The yacht charter price also depends on:

  • The quality of the yacht
  • The year it was built or refined
  • The number and quality of the crew
  • The base location of the yacht
  • The brand of the yacht
The number of cabins doesnt affect the price

The number of cabins doesn't affect the price

There is no rule that a yacht with more cabins is more expensive.

The best yachting holidays are the ones between 8 - 12 guests. This ensures a more intimate and comfortable experience for everybody. It is good to know there are yachts that can accommodate fewer and of course more guests as well.

Extra payments

Extra Payments

Different yachts have different yacht policies, so it is always good to check what is in the selected yacht policy.

Some yacht charters include in price everything and some others charge a Charter fee and everything else is extra to pay.

Extras can be mandatory and non-mandatory.

Mandatory extras

Mandatory extras

Mandatory extras stand for the amount needed to be paid extra, apart from the charter fee. It is required by the owner of the yacht. This amount covers:

  • expenses of drink and food options (half board or full board food option)
  • tourist and port taxes
  • VAT (VAT for gulets is already included in the charter price)

Non mandatory extras

Non-mandatory extras

Non-mandatory extras mean they are optional and need to be paid only if you decide to:

  • Anchors in private marinas
  • Visit national parks (entrees)
  • To start or end the cruising somewhere else, where the base of the vessel is
  • a Relocation fee (optional)

All those extras are optional and not required by the owner of the vessel. They are left to your personal choice.

Non mandatory extras

Non-mandatory extras are as well:

  • Transfer from the airport or hotel to the yacht and back
  • Extra Activities during the cruising
  • Extra crew member on your request

Each yacht can be specific and has different terms of the policy. But some kind of a general rule could be - add on a charter fee of 30% and you get the all-inclusive price.

Advanced Payment Allowance

Advanced Payment Allowance

More sophisticated yachts also operate with the A.P.A. (advanced Payment Allowance). It means you pay a certain amount in advance and all the mandatory and non-mandatory extras are paid from this amount. If at the end of your cruising, the amount is still in A.P.A. you get it back, if you exceed it, you add more on the spot. Usually, the A.P.A. is about 30% of the charter fee.
