Island Primošten

Would you consider a cruise to Croatia?

I got an idea last time that this blog is too much ABOUT MY OPINIONS!

Okay, I cruise there almost every year and I know the country (the islands and the coast) almost like my own pocket.

But I decided I wish to “pass the microphone” to some of the biggest experts for Croatia and hear (read) what they have to say about it.

So here is a short interview with a person that:

–  I first visited Croatia in 1996 when Lonely Planet hired her to update the Croatia chapter in their Eastern Europe guidebook.

–  After that, she returned two years later to research the first guidebook in English to Croatia for Lonely Planet

–  After that, she returned yearly for more updates and became a HUGE EXPERT ON THE COUNTRY!

–  She then started a page  www.croatiatraveller.com in 2005 to provide more and fresher information in an online format.

Croatia Traveller now has nearly 1600 pages of information on every aspect of Croatia travel including news about Croatia that would interest travelers.

If you are not quite sure if Croatia might be perfect for you visit this site and you will get a very good idea what to expect along with TONS OF OTHER USEFUL info on Croatia in general.

So here is the small little interview we made with Jeanne Oliver

YOU DID CROATIA CRUISE. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE THE TOP 3 THINGS YOU LIKED THE MOST?
The clear highlight was visiting the Kornati Islands which cannot be visited any other way.

I was totally unprepared for the jaw-dropping beauty of those islands.

I also liked visiting the more remote coastlines of islands such as Cres and Losinj that would be otherwise inaccessible.

And I liked the peaceful rhythm of cruising.

I had been to Croatia at least a dozen times before that cruise but I truly never appreciated the beauty of the Croatian islands until then.

IF A PERSON NEVER TRAVELED TO CROATIA BEFORE WHAT WOULD YOU ADVISE HIM? WHAT WILL SURPRISE HIM IN A POSITIVE WAY AND MAYBE EVEN IN A NEGATIVE WAY (AND THE BEST WAY TO AVOID THIS)?

I would advise traveling outside the height of the summer season as the coast and islands are more crowded than you can possibly imagine.

I also think it”s important to recognize that there is much more to Croatia than Dubrovnik, special as it is, and to branch out and experience more.

I think you can choose almost any island at random and be amazed at its beauty and the opportunity to immerse yourself in local life.

HOW CAN A PERSON THAT NEVER TRAVELED TO CROATIA BEFORE, HELP HIMSELF THE MOST WITH YOUR  WEBSITE?

Croatia Traveler has so much to inspire you in planning your Croatian holiday.

I have a huge photo gallery to give you ideas and lots of background on each destination so you know what each place has to offer.

I have itinerary ideas, pages of suggestions for active travelers solo travelers golfers, anglers, hikers, families, and island-hoppers.

All my pages on flights, roads, buses, and ferries enable you to plan your trip on a granular level.

I would strongly advise downloading my Dalmatian Ferry Guide which has all the timetables, prices and booking instructions for all local ferries in Dalmatia, the only place on the web where all this information is conveniently assembled.
