Dreamy Turkish Getaway From Bodrum To Datca

Have you had plans about visiting gorgeous country Turkey? And what is the better way to do it rather than by gulet! However, maybe you wondered how your days would look on such cruise? Well, if you were you having any doubts about this stunning place and questions about locations where and how you’ll spend your days & nights, then you are at the right place. Here is a detailed example of a Turkey cruise itinerary from Bodrum to Datca, but remember that everything can be tailored to your wishes!

Day 1 - Saturday

Your cruise starts in beautiful the Bodrum, named after the seaside resort town near its centre. Despite growing modern tourism, tradition and tranquillity are partially preserved at some distinctive areas.  As you and your group board on your gulet in Bodrum, you will be welcomed by your friendly crew and group welcome drinks.

The captain will introduce everyone with the layout of the gulet and ensures everyone is familiar with it and shortly represent once more what you can expect during the upcoming week.

Once everyone is settled and cosy your Chef will prepare a dinner aboard, in the harbour itself. There you will be able to taste and experience how amazing food truly is. Tomorrow morning Captain will lead you to your next destination.

Day 2 - Sunday

After saying good morning to the warm and soft sunrise, a rich smell of coffee with lead you on the deck. There you’ll be served with delicious appetizing breakfast. After breakfast, your cruise from Bordum goes to your next destination starts and this time you can use for enjoying in the sun on the deck, reading books, relaxing with amazing changing views.

First stop is at Palamutbuk Bay a charming tiny quiet secluded fishing village. You’ll see pebble beach and turquoise sea.

It’s perfect for those who want to get away crowded popular tourist spots. After delicious lunch Captain will anchor your boat at İnceburun the most northern point of Turkey and there you’ll spend your night in complete peace and quiet under the starry night and calm sea.

Day 3 - Monday

It’s another morning which means it’s time for another amazing breakfast. Once breakfast is finished, you’ll cruise to Aktur Bay located on a wide bay with a sheltered gorgeous tranquil long sandy beach. After that our first stop will be the Bencik Bay located at the end of the peninsula.

Legend says that at this place local people once wanted to dig a tunnel to defend themselves against the Persians. In spite of all their mighty efforts, unfortunately, the Persians won and concurred the city. The bay has very narrow passage but on the ends, there are anchor points on both sides so any boats stay protected from a wind that might crash them against rocky areas in the area. Dinner full of aroma with fresh local ingredients will be served then you can chill on board where you’ll have a sleepover.

Day 4 - Tuesday

The next morning, you can enjoy the tranquil scenery surrounded by the turquoise waters and a tasty breakfast.

Your captain will after lead you to the next location called Emelayin Bay.

This is the perfect time to jump into the blues of the crystal clear sea and take a swim. Also for those who want to stay active during the cruise, this is a great place do to some watersports!

It’s a known fact that everyone gets quite hungry after activity especially after water sports activities, so it’s the right time for lunch! For lunch boat will dock in Orhaniye bay where you can completely relax and refill your batteries. While staying here you’ll discover the truly unspoilt beauty of Turkey, a peaceful village away from the bustle of modern life. The scenery is very unique and a natural tidal formation called ‘kız kumu’ forms a reddish sand-path going from the shore to the inner parts of the sea.

The final destination of the fourth day is Selimiye village for the dinner. When dinner ends, if you feel like you could snack on something more we highly recommend strolling down rustic streets and find nice purple sweet figs that are too tempting to resist. After your exploration, you can stroll back to the gulet while being followed by the scent of pine trees and enjoy the overnight stay.

Day 5 - Wednesday

Like every other day after breakfast and a cup of coffee or tea, you’ll be lead to the next cruise destination.

This time Captain will be anchoring in a stunning place called Dirsekbuku and there you can take a nice swimming stop.

After a refreshing swim, we will go to Bozburun a small seaside fishing town that use to be popular for sponge-diving but nowadays locals don’t tend to do it because it is a risky and doesn’t have many financial benefits for such dangerous activity.

Now the main source of income for many is gulet tourism. And you will see that this place truly is a precious discovery. Dinner and overnight stay at this place that is like the most peaceful heaven on earth.

Day 6 - Thursday

This morning your gulet will take you to harbour town called Datca. Once you lay down eyes on this town you’ll see a nice mix of traditional and modern. The island has fresh air with very low humidity levels, so days and nights are quite refreshing. You may take a walk in Datca Harbour if you please and explore around or maybe take some souvenirs. 

After lunch, your Captain will cruise to ancient city Cnidus (Knidos) where you’ll have a prepared dinner and overnight stay. Dinner will be made according to your wishes made that was stated while planning the cruise.  Knidos is known for a marble statue of the goddess of beauty Aphrodite and other ruins. You may take a walk on the shore to explore these ruins and the city and later had back to gulet.

Day 7 - Friday

On the seventh day, you will cruise to small island Karaada at the entrance of the harbour of Bodrum early in the morning. An interesting fact is that Karaada literally means “black island” in Turkish. If you want you can communicate to your Captain that you wish to stop by thermal baths in a small cave that just a bit warmer than the sea but have very therapeutic benefits.

After that, you’ll head to Poyraz Bay and have leisure time so you can rest and get energized. Lunch will also be ready so you can enjoy various food that beautifully melts like butter in your mouth.

Enjoy in the breeze have a drink or two if you like while Captain is getting ready for next destination. You will be anchoring at Meteor Bay for a delicious lunch.

The name for this bay originated from the existing meteor hole. If you please for small entrance fee you may also take a walk through the underwater cave which is very near to Meteor Bay. After productive day gulet will dock back to the Bodrum Harbour for dinner and overnight stay. Since this is your last night on gulet you may go and explore the town or party in one of the famous clubs in Bodrum. The decision is yours!

Day 8 - Saturday, Bodrum harbour

And we have come to your last day of this trip, for pleasant goodbyes crew will serve you a lunch full of fresh fruits, toast, coffee, tea, pretty much all you can need. After breakfast, you’ll say goodbyes to your lovely crew and head back home.
